Looking for a Bark alternative?

Bark alternative
Rules on the phone your child already has.

Bark is known for scanning messages, social apps and email for risks. Some parents look for an alternative when what they actually want is screen-time rules on their child’s own Android phone, without reading private messages.

Why parents look beyond Bark.

Many limits need a Bark Phone

Bark’s documentation lists per-app daily limits, an all-apps daily limit, app install approval and app usage reports for the Bark Phone only. On other phones the Bark app relies on routines.

Monitoring is not what every family wants

Bark scans texts, 30+ social apps and email accounts. Some families, especially with teens, prefer boundaries and conversations over reading content.

Before you change apps

If you switch from Bark.

  1. Talk with your child first. Moving from monitoring to rules changes what you see, and they should know what the new app does.
  2. Read and close any open Bark alerts before you stop monitoring.
  3. Set up FamilyAtlas limits and routines on one Android phone and run both for a week.
  4. Cancel Bark where you subscribed before it renews. A Bark Phone plan has its own billing.

FamilyAtlas is in early access. Check support for your child’s device before you plan a move.
