Do not assume these services share one age rule or are all teen apps. Monkey currently says 18+, Yubo requires at least 18, Wizz’s current terms prohibit under-16 access and restrict some features to adults, and OmeTV allows only adults under the applicable country’s legal age. Older roundups that describe all four as thirteen-plus are misleading.
Even when a teen meets a service’s eligibility rule, that does not certify the strangers they encounter or the content of a live conversation. Friend discovery and random video matching can involve different interaction patterns. Review the actual app and account, how contact works and whether someone is pushing the child to another platform. For an underage account, use a calm exit and legitimate account-removal process. If exploitation or threats occurred, preserve safe reporting details and obtain official help before treating the matter as simply uninstalling an app.

The parent concern
Outdated age lists and vague moderation claims can make an adult service look like an ordinary teen friendship app.
Current provider age rules, checked September 30, 2026
| Service | Provider rule | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Monkey | 18+; no minors | Parent consent overrides the rule |
| Yubo | At least 18 | Older thirteen-plus advice is current |
| Wizz | At least 16 and country minimum; some features 18+ | Every feature is available to minors |
| OmeTV | Legal adult age in the user’s country | Adult age is identical worldwide |
Check each service’s current eligibility
Monkey’s no-minors policy is 18+. Yubo’s current help page also says at least 18. Wizz now requires at least 16 and the country’s applicable minimum, with some parts restricted to 18+. OmeTV allows only people who have reached their country’s legal age of adulthood; guardian consent or supervision does not make minors eligible. These provider rules are not developmental endorsements.

Do not equate every app with random video chat
Look at what the installed app actually does: matching, friend discovery, public chat or one-to-one video. Check which contact features are active on that account. A marketing promise about moderation is not independent evidence that every interaction is safe; an age-assurance system also does not verify trustworthy intentions.

Recognize pressure after the match
Ask about requests for images, private contact, gifts with conditions or secrecy from trusted adults. Moving to another service can reduce the protections of the original context. NCMEC and eSafety provide guidance for suspected enticement or grooming; do not diagnose the child merely for having installed a social app.

Handle an underage account without blame
If the child is below the provider’s minimum, stop use and follow the service’s legitimate account-removal instructions. Wizz explicitly notes that deleting the app may not close the account. First consider whether there are reporting details needed for a harm that already occurred. Do not falsify the birthday or borrow an adult account to continue access.
Choose a more bounded social alternative
Ask what the child wanted: friends who share an interest, a game group or relief from boredom. Look for an eligible, manageable setting with known contacts and a clear exit route. This is a practical family decision, not a claim that any replacement app is guaranteed safe. Revisit it with the child rather than just banning an unfamiliar name.

A way to start the conversation
“The age rules are different for these apps. Let’s find an appropriate way to meet people, and you can tell me if anyone made you uncomfortable.”

What technology cannot solve
Moderation claims and age checks do not establish safe contact. This guide does not guarantee stranger identity or recommend an adult-only service for a minor.
